                                   Sigurd

         The Sword and the Serpent

The Sword and the Serpent is the first of the Sigurd trilogy, the the story of a young Norse warlord who sets out on a quest to change history and the world.

Battling warring tribes on the shores of a newly discovered land, and feuding with the king of Norway, Sigurd is pursued by Gunnulv, a foul-mouthed Swede embittered by the loss of his arm in a battle with Sigurd's father.

With his father's sword, Skull-Splitter as his companion, Sigurd cleaves his way through history and legend. Yet his greatest battle is to unravel the magical binding of Maera, a Celtic priestess known as the Black Witch of Nidaros, who holds the secret of his destiny.
